Sand sharks are hands-down the scariest looking sharks around…check out those tooth-filled chompers! Their teeth are so jagged and numerous that they hang out of their mouths even when their mouths are closed! Sand Sharks are known by many names, such as: Ragged Tooth Sharks, Grey Nurse Sharks, and Sand Tiger Sharks.
Sand sharks have been witnessed surfacing and actually “gulping” air. This air is held in their stomachs, acting as a swim bladder to help the shark maintain a depth high in the water column. Sand Tigers actually don’t eat humans. They will attack a human if provoked; however, they won’t actually eat human flesh. (I don’t think I’ll swim with them anyway…just to be on the safe side.
For the angler, they offer drag screaming runs with their brute strength. You can check your dates’ availability online or call me anytime at 252-475-0402.
